What we keep, and what you control

After Syntax needs your practice work to teach you. This is what it keeps, who handles it, and how to take it with you or delete it.

We never connect to your systems

Practices use fictional systems. After Syntax does not connect to your repositories or company tools, and never needs source code, credentials, customer records or confidential plans.

What we keep

Your account: name, email, how long you have worked in software, consent choices, and the settings you choose. Your practice work: models, predictions, writing, versions, debriefs and check-ins, and what that work has shown in Progress.

We keep it to run your account. We do not sell it, publish a profile of you, or turn your results into a score for employers.

Who handles it

Cloudflare runs After Syntax: it hosts the site, stores your data and sends our emails.

When a practice asks you a question, checks your written rules or writes a review, the part of your work it needs is sent to Anthropic’s Claude through Cloudflare.

Stripe handles Pro payments, so your card number never reaches us.

Optional research use

Two choices in Settings are off until you turn them on. Product research lets us study de-identified practice work to improve how After Syntax teaches. Evaluation benchmarks let us use de-identified work to check that reviews are accurate and consistent.

Saying no changes nothing about your practice. Deleting your work also deletes any research copy.

How long we keep it

Your work stays until you delete a practice or your account.

When you start Pro, we email you a copy of your agreement and keep that copy until you delete your account.

Once your account starts a Pro trial or pays for Pro, we keep a one-way code made from each email address the account has used, with the date it first had Pro. The code does not contain the address. We keep it after you delete your account, with no end date, and use it only to stop those addresses from getting another free trial. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its own privacy policy.

Service records, such as security logs, are kept only as long as needed to run and protect After Syntax. A legal obligation or a security incident may require us to keep a limited record longer.

Download or delete

In Settings, under Account, you can download a copy of your data or delete your account. You can also delete a single practice. Deleting your account asks for your password and gives you a receipt that does not repeat your personal data.

If your account is paused, you can still sign in to download your data or delete your account.
